What is compounding?
Compounding, although simply put, is the manipulation of a prescription drug other that what is stipulated on the drug label, and should only b implemented based on a licensed practitioner’s prescription and to meet the medical needs of a specific patient.
Manipulation of a drug could include mixing, diluting, concentrating, flavoring, or changing a drug’s dosage form to accommodate a specific patient’s medical needs.
Compounding for non-food animals (Pets) may be necessary when no approved drug is available to treat a pet’s condition or when approved drugs need to be modified to treat the patient.

Throughout the flu season, you will find us out in the community reminding you that it is time for that annual flu shot and offering them on-site. You may also stop by or call us to let us know if and how you would like to be notified when flu vaccinations are available. Flu vaccinations are available and recommended annually for individual’s ages 6 months and older. At the Pharmacy we can now give flu shots to 11 year olds to adult.
Who is eligible for the influenza (flu) vaccine?
Anyone is eligible to receive the vaccine. However, we will not administer vaccine to any individuals who have an allergy to eggs, mercury or a history of Guillain-Barre.
What does it cost to receive a flu shot?
In many cases it is a preventative benefit and covered by your insurance. We provide direct insurance billing. If the flu vaccine is not a covered benefit, we have many flexible payment options. Prices are charged by each vaccine administered and are tiered by number of participants. There is no additional charge for our on-site nurse and coordinators time and expenses.

What is Guillain-Barre Syndrome?
About one in 100,000 people per year will develop Guillain-Barre syndrome (GBS), an illness characterized by fever, nerve damage and muscle weakness. In 1976, vaccination with the swine flu vaccine was associated with getting GBS.
River Road Health Mart offers Pneumonia vaccinations daily during our normal business hours for your convenience. This vaccine is recommended for every individual twice during his or her lifetime, 1 before age 65, 1 after age 65, and there must be 5 years in between each vaccination. Brian is always available to provide more information on this vaccination.
We offer this vaccination daily in our pharmacy as well. Shingles is caused by “Varicella Zoster” or most often referred to as “Chicken Pox”. An individual who has had chicken pox or has had the chicken pox vaccine is highly susceptible to shingles. The Center for Disease Control (CDC) recommends the shingles vaccine to anyone who is over the age of 60. It is also good to realize that most insurance companies will cover this vaccination. River Road Health Mart Pharmacy offers on-site flu shot clinics to local businesses to provide their employees with the seasonal flu vaccine.
We do not charge for our on-site service or travel charges to arrive on-site.
When can I book A flu shot clinic?
We typically start booking the first week in October and continue through November. We book clinics for any weekday and can accommodate almost any time of day.

What is the minimum number to have an on-site flu shot clinic?
We have a preferred minimum of 20 shots. However, please contact us if you have less than that, we can work with you to make sure your employees are taken care of.
